What to do

Wildlife and Bird Watching
Gravel Lake is home to enough herons, cranes, and swans to keep any avid bird watcher busy. An bald eagle sighting is fairly common, and many other types of wildlife are present throughout our beautiful slice of Southwest Michigan.

Fishing Water Sports and Other Attractions
Along with fishing, water sports activities, and annual events, you can also take advantage of the surrounding local towns for a smorgasbord of fun tings to do. Say the weather turns nasty and you feel like hitting a shopping mall and a movie. For this, Portage is close by and right off I-94. Formula K Family Fun Park in Mattawan has batting cages, video games, and multiple go-kart race tracks. There’s a skate park in Decatur and some nearby wineries in Paw Paw and Watervliet. Don’t miss the annual Paw Paw Wine & Harvest Festival if you’re staying with us during September. If you’re a fan of auto racing, be sure to check out the events at M40 Speedway in Jones, Michigan.

Golf, Snowmobiling, and Fall Color Tours
For low-impact, off-site outdoor activities, Lawton has a Dream Park for the kids, fully equipped with slides and swing sets. Local golf courses in Three Rivers are a popular attraction – The Olde Mill and Pineview Golf Course, which has 36 holes. Just down the street from Gravel Lake is another course known as the North 40, practically in your own backyard.

Fall color tours of Southwest Michigan never disappoint, and we are only 45 minutes from Notre Dame if you choose to take in a home football game. If you so desire, you can even come in the winter to ice fish and snowmobile on a state snowmobile trail in close proximity to us.

Need a few minutes of private time apart from the kids? Remind them about the old-fashioned candy store just ten houses down the street. That’s a little secret we figured you may enjoy at one of the finest family resorts in Michigan.
